What the installation service includes
Installation is where the rating meets the building. Our teams fix each product by the tested method, seal it against weather and fire where required, commission locks and access control, and leave the site clean and documented.
- Pre-installation survey of openings, structure and access routes.
- Delivery, offloading and secure storage of products on site.
- Fixing and anchoring by the tested method for each product.
- Sealing, fire stopping and making good around the installation.
- Commissioning of locks, access control and operable elements.
- Snagging, demonstration and formal handover.
Every installation starts from the approved drawings and the test evidence for the product. The team leader checks the opening against the drawing before fixing begins, so discrepancies are caught while they are still cheap to correct.
Fixing is part of the rating. A rated product fixed badly is not a rated installation. Our fixings follow the tested method for every product, and we record what was used where.
How we work by site type
New builds, refurbishments and live sites each need a different approach.
| Site type | How we work | What it means for you |
|---|---|---|
| New build | Sequenced with the main contractor’s programme | Openings ready when we arrive, no rework |
| Refurbishment | Phased areas with dust control and protection | The building stays usable during the works |
| Live operational site | Out-of-hours and weekend working | Security and operations never lapse |
How the installation service runs
- Pre-install survey. We check openings, structure, access and storage before anything is made.
- Programme. Installation dates are agreed with the main contractor or facilities team.
- Delivery and storage. Products arrive protected and are stored securely until fitted.
- Installation. Each product is fixed, levelled and anchored by the tested method.
- Sealing and making good. Joints are sealed and surrounds are made good.
- Commissioning. Locks, access control and moving parts are tested and set.
- Handover. Records, test evidence and O&M information are issued; see maintenance for what follows.
The deliverables from installation
Installed and commissioned products, an O&M manual covering operation and routine care, the test evidence pack for the ratings installed, and a signed handover record. Your QA file and the building’s security records are complete from day one.
Photographs of concealed fixings are included where they will be hidden by finishes, giving you a permanent record of what sits behind the plaster. Phased programmes are handed over phase by phase, each with its own records, so the QA file stays complete as the project progresses.
When installation makes sense
Book installation for new-build security packages, retrofit programmes, phased refurbishments and live sites that cannot close: stations, hospitals, data centres and occupied offices. We also install products designed or supplied by others, where our fixing methods suit the product. Early booking secures the dates your programme needs.
Products covered by installation
We install bullet resistant doors, rated windows and facades, security bollards and HVM products, and MRI shielded rooms. Designs for installation are produced by our design team where needed.
Frequently asked questions
Do you install on live operational sites?
Yes. We work out of hours and at weekends where operations cannot pause, with phased areas, dust control and a security plan that keeps the site protected throughout.
Who does the builders work?
We agree the split before we start: typically we fix, seal and commission our products, while the main contractor or facilities team provides openings, making good and builders work outside our scope. It is written into the programme.
What access do you need?
Clear access routes for the largest product, a secure storage area, power and welfare per the site rules. Heavy items such as ballistic glazing and bollards need planned lifts, which we arrange.
What happens after handover?
You receive the O&M manual and test evidence, and we demonstrate operation to your team. Planned servicing continues under maintenance if you want it.
