Explore ballistic protection

Ballistic protection stops a defined firearm and ammunition from getting through a door, window or wall. We supply bullet resistant doors, windows, glass and curtain walling tested to EN 1522 and EN 1063, as complete assemblies, with the test evidence.

  • FB2 to FB7Doors, windows and facades to EN 1522
  • BR1 to BR7Glass to EN 1063
  • Tested as oneFrame, glass and hardware together
  • Dual ratedWith LPS 1175, blast and fire options

How ballistic ratings work

Two standards cover most UK projects. EN 1522 rates complete doors, windows and shutters from FB1 to FB7. EN 1063 rates the glass on its own from BR1 to BR7. The numbers line up: FB4 and BR4 both stop a .44 Magnum handgun, and FB6 and BR6 both stop a 7.62 mm rifle.

A rated pane in an unrated frame is not a ballistic window. Always ask for the test report for the full assembly. Our guide to ballistic ratings explains every class.

Choosing the right product

You need to protect Product
An entrance, lobby or secure room Bullet resistant doors
A plant room that needs airflow Ballistic louvre doors
Offices and control rooms with a view out Bullet resistant windows
Counters, screens and existing frames Bullet resistant glass
A whole glazed facade Ballistic curtain walling
A private home Residential ballistic security

One weak point defeats the rest. Doors, glazing and the wall around them need the same class. We check the whole line of protection, not one product at a time.

Who specifies ballistic protection?

Most projects come from government and defence, data centres, banking, transport hubs and high-net-worth homes. The class is normally set by a security consultant or the client brief. Where it is not, we assess the threat with you first.

What is the difference between FB and BR ratings?

FB classes (EN 1522) apply to a complete door, window or shutter. BR classes (EN 1063) apply to glass only. For a finished product you need the FB class.

Can ballistic products look like normal doors and windows?

Yes. Slim steel profiles, standard finishes and cladding mean most people never notice the rating.
