What we supply in Glasgow

Glasgow’s regeneration has filled former industrial land with venues, public spaces and commercial districts. Working with architects, contractors and consultants, ArxBridge supplies and installs rated security doors, barriers, ballistic and blast protection across the city.

  • Vehicle impact PAS 68 / IWA 14-1Tested hostile vehicle barriers
  • LPS 1175 SR2-SR5 rangeAttack tested doorsets
  • Ballistic FB2 to FB7Doorsets tested to EN 1522
  • EXV45 to EXV10ISO 16933 blast ratings

Commercial districts and the riverfront

Glasgow’s commercial core and riverfront mix offices, hotels and leisure buildings with busy pedestrian routes. Street-level doors and glazing take the most punishment, so LPS 1175 security doors and attack-rated glazing are common at ground floor.

Engineering and industrial sites, including the areas shaped by the city’s shipbuilding and engineering heritage, need a different mix: steel louvred doors for ventilated plant areas, security shutters for workshops, and sliding vehicle gates for yards.

Hotels and leisure buildings add entrance control to the specification. Revolving security doors manage lobby flow while keeping unauthorised entry out.

Venues, arenas and public events

Large venues fall under Martyn’s Law, the Terrorism (Protection of Premises) Act 2025, with the enhanced tier covering premises where 800 or more people may be present. Physical measures under consideration typically include HVM barriers on approaches and controlled service entrances.

Outdoor event spaces use removable PAS 68 security bollards where the road must reopen after the event. Fixed barriers suit permanent approaches. Our hostile vehicle mitigation range covers both.

Public spaces schemes follow the same logic: protect the crowd, keep the space open, and keep emergency routes clear.

Rating guide for Glasgow sites

Use the table for orientation. The threat assessment decides the rating for each opening.

Location Threat Typical rating Product
City centre offices Forced entry at rear doors LPS 1175 SR2 or SR3 Security doors
Hotels and leisure Lobby and service entry Entrance control Revolving security doors
Industrial units Ventilated secure access LPS 1175 louvred Steel louvred doors
Vehicle yards Unauthorised vehicle entry Rated sliding gates Sliding vehicle gates
Event approaches Vehicle as a weapon PAS 68 removable Security bollards
High-risk offices Ballistic threat FB4 to FB6 Bullet resistant doors

A threat assessment fixes the rating. Mixed-use developments often combine several of these on one site, and our LPS 1175 guide explains the forced entry classes.

Metalwork, finishing and fabrication support

Architectural metalwork on Glasgow projects often needs more than the doorset itself: powder coating in specified colours, shot blasting of steelwork before coating, and waterjet cutting for bespoke panels and screens.

These are fabrication services we offer for architectural and security metalwork, so finishes and cut profiles can be ordered with the doors rather than from a separate supplier. Our manufacture service brings the whole package together.

Bespoke screens and feature panels are cut to the architect’s drawings, then finished in the specified colour. Because cutting, blasting and coating happen in one workflow, the programme stays predictable.

Yards and workshops need daily-use security. We specify hardware and finishes for doors that are opened constantly through the working day, not just tested once in a lab.

Maintenance and aftercare

Rated doors only protect if they keep working. Hinges, closers, locks and seals wear with use, and a door that no longer closes properly no longer meets its rating. Planned maintenance keeps every doorset performing as tested.

Our maintenance service covers inspection, adjustment and replacement of worn components across Glasgow sites, scheduled around the building’s operations. It follows on from installation, so one team knows the history of every door.

Frequently asked questions

Do you supply as well as install in Glasgow?

Yes. ArxBridge supplies and installs across Glasgow, working from drawings and site surveys through to handover.

What is the difference between fixed and removable PAS 68 bollards?

Both are impact tested. Removable versions lift out to let emergency or event vehicles through, then lock back into tested sockets.

Can shutters be both secure and presentable?

High-performance shutters come in finishes that suit commercial frontages, and retractable grilles hide away during opening hours.

Do you coat doors in custom colours?

Yes. Powder coating in specified colours is one of our fabrication services, applied to architectural and security metalwork.
