ArxBridge supplies and installs tested physical security products across ten sectors, from data centres and defence to retail, healthcare and education. Each sector faces different threats, so the choice of product and rating always follows the risk: the same doorset is specified to LPS 1175 SR3 in one setting and to FB6 in another.

How the sector shapes the specification

Every sector brings a different threat picture, and that picture decides both the product and the rating. A server hall needs a higher forced entry rating than a classroom door. A bank branch needs different glazing from a housing block. We start from the six product groups and map each one to the risk: LPS 1175 doorsets where forced entry is the concern, ballistic or blast protection where the threat is greater.

Specifiers and security consultants set the rating. Architects and main contractors fold it into the building design. Facilities teams bring us in when an existing site must be upgraded. We support all of them through design, manufacture, installation and maintenance, supplying products with third-party test evidence to standards such as LPS 1175. The same security doors range can be supplied at several ratings, so the sector guide below gives each setting its usual starting point.

Start with the threat. Ask what the building must resist before choosing any product. A risk assessment, or a consultant’s brief, sets the rating, and the product follows from there.

Sector guide

The table lists the ten sectors we serve. Each name links to its sector page, and the products column links to the ranges most often used there. Your project may need more or less than the table suggests, which is why every sector page carries its own threat and rating detail.

Sector Key risks Typical products
Data centres Forced entry to plant and service areas; attack on critical plant Security doors, RF shielding
Government and defence Targeted attack, vehicle ramming, firearms threat Bullet resistant doors, Hostile vehicle mitigation
Transport hubs Hostile vehicles, blast effects near crowds Hostile vehicle mitigation, Blast resistant doors
Public spaces Vehicle ramming of pedestrian areas HVM street furniture
High-value retail Smash and grab, ram raids Security shutters, Security windows
Residential and housing Burglary and forced entry at main entrances Residential security doors, Communal entrance doors
Healthcare Controlled access, fire compartmentation Fire rated steel doors, Security portals
Utilities and energy Forced entry and vandalism at remote sites Security gates, Security bollards
Education Intruder access, lockdown and safeguarding Security doors, Fire rated steel doors
Banking and finance Armed threat, ram raids on branches Bullet resistant doors, Bullet resistant glass

Who specifies it

Most projects involve more than one decision maker. These are the people we work with on sector projects:

  • Architects. Fold the security line into the building design, from doorsets to glazing and facades.
  • Specifiers. Write the technical requirements and name the rating each product must meet.
  • Main contractors. Procure and install during the build, and keep the security package on programme.
  • Facilities teams. Upgrade existing sites, or replace products that no longer meet the risk.
  • Security consultants. Define the threat, set the rating, and check that the supplied test evidence matches.

For public-facing premises, the duties under Martyn’s Law now sit alongside these roles. The standard tier applies where 200 to 799 people may be present, and enhanced tier premises must consider physical measures.

Do the same products suit every sector?

No. Each sector page explains its own threats and typical ratings. A doorset that suits a retail unit would not meet a defence requirement, and a defence specification would be wasteful on a classroom.

How do I know which rating I need?

Start with a risk assessment or a security consultant’s brief. They name the threat and the rating, such as LPS 1175 SR3 or FB4, and we then supply and install the matching tested product.

Can one product carry more than one rating?

Often. A single doorset can combine forced entry, fire and ballistic performance in one assembly. The sector pages note where combined ratings are common, such as government buildings and high-value retail.
